Restoring Dignity in Bucha, Ukraine

Restoring Dignity in Bucha: A Partnership of Compassion and Renewal

When war tore through the Ukrainian city of Bucha, its Baptist church became a lifeline for neighbors who had lost everything. Today, Bucha Baptist Church, under the guidance of Fyodor Raychynets, continues to bring hope to a region marked by tragedy. In partnership with Alongside Ministries International, the church is launching the Elder Care Initiative—a faith‑based response to the collapse of Ukraine’s social safety net.

This initiative serves 30–100 elderly individuals who are isolated, impoverished, and often forgotten. Each month, volunteers deliver food and medicine, visit homes for prayer and conversation, and host festive Elder Banquets that remind participants they are still seen and loved. Beyond immediate relief, the project also documents each elder’s needs and circumstances to ensure continuity of care and cooperation with local authorities.

The Elder Care Initiative is the first step in a long‑term Christian strategy for social renewal. As systems of care grow and stabilize, ministries for widows, children, and returning soldiers will follow. It is a ministry of presence and perseverance, grounded in the belief that rebuilding Ukraine begins with rebuilding trust.

Funding for this partnership is coordinated through Alongside Ministries International, with an initial $1,000/month stipend for Fyodor Raychynets as local coordinator. The project’s launch threshold is $25,000, with an annual operational range of $43,000–$104,000 depending on scale.
