Opportunities are just coming to light to work alongside the Evangelische Landeskirche in Deutschland, the historic Lutheran and Reformed churches in various cities in Germany. Positions can be developed based on the unique gifts and interests of the Alongsider. Fluency in German recommended.

Banchory is located in the north of Scotland, approximately 25 km from Aberdeen. Two Church of Scotland congregations, Ternan East and Ternan West have set up “The Joint Youth Project” and are seeking a Gap Year or rookie intern to serve as a Volunteer Youth Worker. His or her role will be to assist the Youth Coordinator in the activities for the ministry to teenagers in Banchory.

Length of term (and level of responsibility) varies from a summer internship to a two-year commitment.

Most opportunities for children’s work exist in are in congregations in small cities or rural townships around Estonia. Congregations are looking for someone to create relationships with children and develop/participate in children’s programs throughout the year. English clubs or sports activities are often a successful avenue for formulating such relationships.

These positions are open to individuals, couples, families or teams of two.

Instruction in English language begins in 2nd grade and so motivation to practice is high among children. Strictly speaking, applicants may not need to learn Estonian in order to succeed in this position. However, applicants will certainly find that opportunities to connect with children, parents and ministry parnters will grow markedly as familiarity with Estonian language and culture improves.
